Portabella & Streamer product guide

Choose a cellular router for data connectivity or a video transport appliance for live streaming. Compare the current model groups, then use the linked family brochure for detailed specifications.

Model lineup reviewed

Data connectivity

Choose Portabella for mobile or remote Internet access. Use multiple cellular connections and a wired WAN. Add Streamer software when you need live video optimization.

Live video transport

Choose Streamer to send an already encoded video stream over bonded WAN connections. Supply your own encoder or switcher and use a video relay to reach your video server or CDN.

Portabella 4000i and 4000i 5G have four embedded modems in the primary configuration; 3000i and 2000i configurations have three and two modems respectively. Portabella 4000it is available with four 4G LTE or four 5G modems. The 4000it interface details are the published 4G LTE reference; confirm the exact 5G configuration when ordering.

Peered bonding requires a cloud or customer-hosted relay. Video bonding requires a video relay. See relay and service requirements, or contact sales for a configuration and service quote.

Published performance references

  • Portabella 4000i: up to 1 Gb/s load balancing and 100 Mb/s peered bonding.
  • Portabella 4000i 5G: up to 1 Gb/s load balancing and 800 Mb/s peered bonding.
  • Portabella 4000it 4G LTE: up to 1 Gb/s load balancing and 250 Mb/s peered bonding. Confirm performance for the 5G configuration when ordering.

These figures are published appliance limits for the primary four-modem models, not measured cellular speeds. The brochures do not specify the firmware, encryption mode or complete test conditions. Available capacity, latency, packet loss, relay location and configuration affect achieved performance; request validation for your deployment.

Current live video models

Streamer

The current range has three brochure groups: Streamer 4000i, Streamer 4000i 5G, and Streamer 1U. Each transports an already encoded video stream; none includes a built-in video encoder.

Streamer 4000i and 4000i 5G have four embedded modems in the primary configuration; 3000i and 2000i configurations have three and two modems respectively. Streamer 1U uses wired WAN connections and external USB cellular modems. Connect your own video encoder or switcher via Ethernet; the 4000i models also accept encoded video over Wi-Fi.

Peered bonding requires a cloud or customer-hosted relay. Video bonding requires a video relay. See relay and service requirements, or contact sales for a configuration and service quote.

Published video performance references

  • Streamer 4000i: up to 30 Mb/s video streaming. The brochure separately lists 100 Mb/s peered throughput.
  • Streamer 4000i 5G: up to 80 Mb/s video streaming. The brochure separately lists up to 1 Gb/s load balancing.
  • Streamer 1U: up to 20 Mb/s RTMP, or up to 100 Mb/s RTMP with the optional performance pack.

Video streaming, peered data bonding and load balancing are different performance measures. These published limits are not measured cellular speeds or a guarantee for every stream. Confirm the encoding bitrate, protocol, available WAN capacity and relay configuration before choosing a model.

Deployment requirements

Relays, software and ordering

Load balancing

Standalone load balancing distributes separate sessions across available WAN links. A single-session download uses one WAN link in this mode.

Peered data bonding

Packet-level bonding of downlink and uplink traffic requires a cloud or customer-hosted relay. Broadband Bonding Service provides an optional service and cloud static IP; confirm the required service plan and relay capacity.

Live video bonding

Streamer transports encoded video through a video relay. The 4000i brochures describe Mushroom cloud relay points; Streamer 1U also supports a Streamer Relay Unit at the receiving location. Portabella needs the optional Streamer software add-on for live video optimization.

Request the complete configuration

Ask for the model, cellular generation, number of embedded modems, regional carrier compatibility, WAN connections, relay service, software options and support package in your quote. Confirm licence and subscription terms, availability and delivery time with sales.
