Multi-SIM 4G LTE and 5G Bonding Solutions

Use multiple cellular connections for remote, mobile and temporary-site Internet access. Mushroom Networks algorithms adapt how traffic uses the available paths as WAN conditions change. Configure a peered bonding tunnel or an application-specific policy for the data, voice or video workload.

4G LTE and 5G Bonding with Portabella

Portabella provides cellular WAN connectivity for data applications. The current 4000i and 4000i 5G families offer four embedded modems in the primary model, with three- and two-modem configurations. Portabella 4000it is offered with four 4G LTE or four 5G modems for suitable vehicle and rail installations.

Use standalone load balancing for separate sessions, or a cloud/customer-hosted relay for packet-level bonding. Compare the current models and relay requirements.

Application-Optimized Multi-SIM Tunnels

Portabella combines routing, firewall and QoS with application-specific overlay tunnels. After routes and profiles are configured, the bonding algorithms adjust path use as capacity, delay and loss change. Choose the policy and service options for the applications in the deployment.

Use activated SIMs and qualified modems for the intended region and carrier plans. Modems can connect through the same or different carriers, subject to hardware and service compatibility. Different SIMs may still share a tower or upstream network; verify the path diversity at the deployment location.

In-Vehicle Internet Solutions

For vehicles or rail projects, consider Portabella 4000it in its 4G LTE or 5G configuration. Confirm the power input, connectors, antenna installation, environmental requirements and applicable certifications for the selected hardware. The 4000it brochure identifies the published hardware reference.

Pop-up Stores & Remote Offices Connectivity

For temporary sites and remote offices, select a Portabella configuration for the required cellular connections and wired WAN handoff. Confirm power, coverage, relay reachability and the desired LAN/firewall design. Use application routes and QoS appropriate to the office workload.

LIVE VIDEO STREAMING OVER BONDED 4G LTE, 5G

Streamer uses Portabella hardware with the Streamer software option to transport already encoded live video through a video relay. Connect your encoder, video switcher or production computer via the supported Ethernet/Wi-Fi input, and configure the relay and destination server/CDN.

The current portable families are Streamer 4000i and 4000i 5G, with two-, three- or four-modem configurations. Streamer 1U serves wired WAN deployments and external USB cellular modems. Current Streamer models do not include a video encoder. Follow the live-video deployment workflow and confirm the encoder protocol and destination compatibility.

Cellular deployment planning

Choose a 4G LTE / 5G bonding workflow

Start with the application, then choose the modem configuration, WAN mix and service mode. The detailed scenario guides below cover the connection diagram, routing and validation for each use case.

Prepare the connection mix

  1. Select the current model and modem count. Decide between 4G LTE, 5G and the relevant two-/three-/four-modem configuration. Verify the exact modem count rather than treating SIM slots as additional active WANs.
  2. Check the cellular services. Confirm supported bands/carriers, activated data plans, permitted use, antennas and coverage at the site. Provision each modem and verify each path independently.
  3. Add the required wired WAN. Connect the supported Ethernet handoff from a fixed, cellular or satellite service and confirm address/gateway and Internet reachability.
  4. Choose and configure the service mode. Standalone load balancing, peered data bonding and video relay transport serve different needs. Verify the software options, relay and application routes before testing.

Verify the application on changing paths

  • Record the model, modem configuration, firmware, carrier plans, antenna setup and relay/service profile.
  • Measure each WAN and the configured combined path under the intended data, calling or streaming workload.
  • Test link loss and degradation on a test network, with the remaining capacity and the application’s behaviour observed.
  • Confirm that the installation has suitable power and that any paths expected to be independent actually provide useful diversity.

Adaptive bonding algorithms respond to changing WAN conditions. The usable connection still depends on coverage, surviving capacity, endpoint reachability and the selected application profile.
