SAN DIEGO – March 2, 2018 – Mushroom Networks, an innovator in Broadband-Bonding™ and Software-Defined Wide Area Networking (SD-WAN) platforms, today announced that Precision Husky, a heavy equipment manufacturer headquartered in Moody, Alabama leveraged Mushroom’s VOIP Armor solution to upgrade their legacy and costly phone system to a Voice-over-IP based phone system. VOIP Armor facilitated the much needed quality and reliability boost in a cost effective manner.
“After evaluating various options we selected Mushroom Networks because of their industry reputation and leadership in multi-WAN networks — especially for application peformance”, said Billy Daniels, the VP of Engineering at Precision Husky.
Precision Husky had a legacy PBX system based on analog phone lines and the phone bill was over $24,000 a year. To reduce that cost, they have moved to a VOIP based solution, however, before deploying Mushroom’s VOIP Armor, the voice quality and the reliability of the calls was not optimum. That’s when Billy researched and found out about Mushroom’s VOIP Armor solution.
Precision Husky is leveraging various wired Internet connections and 2 LTE modems that are plugged into Mushroom’s VOIP Armor device, which works as a VOIP gateway and manages the Internet links simultaneously to optimize the phone calls MOS score. The VOIP Armor tunnel presenting a single elastic static IP address to Precision Husky’s hosted IP-PBX means that any fluctuations and performance degradations on any of the WAN links are completely shielded from the VOIP packets with per-packet intelligent application steering. Since installation the technology already resulted in 100% uptime even during 2 major blackouts one caused by an accidental fiber cut of the Internet service and another because of a hurricane.
“The VOIP system provided 60% savings right from the get go. After my experience with Mushroom, I can simply say that every VOIP user needs 100% a Mushroom box – period”, added Billy.
Cahit Akin, CEO of Mushroom Networks, said, “VOIP Armor is a life saver for businesses who suffer VOIP quality and reliability issues caused by Internet connectivity. VOIP Armor tunnels are dynamic and can adapt in realtime to changing path conditions so that the packets can follow the optimum path”.
As organizations move more of their services to the cloud, the WAN (Wide Area Network) connectivity is becoming the choking point. VOIP Armor or similar application centric overlay tunnels address this challenge by intelligently managing 2 or more WAN connections to optimize end user experience. VOIP Armor is available today through Mushroom Networks authorized partners and more information can be found at https://www.mushroomnetworks.com/voip/ .
